I am not a geek, but internet stuff has always fascinated me. Maybe it was a friend who had first showed me a blog website, but slowly I have developed an interest of my own of checking them a lot especially to get reviews about something I wish to obtain. Cutting my story short, my system had got infected by Trojan, and to be honest, I had no idea what it meant. I used my girlfriend’s laptop and tried to get some info about it over the internet. I did get it, but it seemed like I was reading something that definitely is not meant for me.
My system was out of warranty so there was no point asking local technician to come up, who anyways would have charged me some good money for it now. I then looked for some online help over forums, and I came across iTechAcharya (with a lot of complaints listed by their name too). I went through these blogs to understand this better. I don’t know what got into me, but I too tried out their number.
The outcome was no different. My system’s access was asked-for by one of their agents, who had average English speaking skills. He showed me a couple of errors, insisting that they ...
... were the root causes. He then offered me an instant plan (which I later checked was the cheapest of them all), and also gave me a demonstration before I even went for it. I wanted to say no, but I went for it. He fixed my PC and said he will be checking in for next couple of weeks as well. After a day or so, I felt that my PC was indeed working fine now, and that Trojan thing was there no more.
So I thought about what exactly might have happened with people in the past, some of who were much better than me with computers. I would like to share my conclusions with you all:
• If you are a new business, would you not try to get as much business as you can, in any way you can? I sure would. It will be unethical, but in the cut throat business of today, one has to be always watchful, both as a company and as a customer.
• Maybe I was a bit lucky, for I got an agent who actually wanted to help, but I believe there are still certain people who would always hard sell their product to earn those incentives attached to the sale (iTechAcharya needs to identify such agents and reassess them)
• The services are really costly, I agree. But if you get a service with just a phone call, and that too instantly, won’t you love to have it?
• Not all are gifted with good communication skills. But if I get a person with bad skills talk to me politely and fix my problem, I would go with him rather than with someone who speaks better English but just wants to dupe me! You need to be patient with the person. However, I do not mean that you should trust upon everything he says. If it is your email account you are facing trouble with, better look for support for email only. Hang up if anything else is asked from you.
• There are numerous reviews available over the internet. If you could get one such company’s support number online, why not look for some additional information about your concern too.
It totally depends upon you, whether you want to get duped or not. Look for the right things, and you certainly won’t feel cheated!
