Is Cancer Curable? Basic Facts About Cancer
Cancer is a disease in which the body cells grow uncontrollably because their normal regulatory mechanisms have been damaged. There are literally hundreds of different types and subtypes of cancer however the majority form solid tumors in specific areas of the body. The most common cancers are skin cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, bowel cancer and prostate cancer. Unfortunately the disease is very proficient at spreading through the blood and the lymphatic system and so in advanced cancer cases it is not uncommon to see secondary tumors in far off areas of the body.
One of the most important breakthroughs in cancer research came in the late 1970s when scientists discovered that all types of cancer begin with the genetic material within normal body cells becoming damaged. Every cell contains genetic information in the form of more than 90,000 pairs of genes which work together to control the activities of the cell. A cell can become cancerous when specific genes, such as those that control division, become damaged beyond repair. How and why genes become damaged is still a hot topic for research however it would seem ...
... that faulty genes are either inherited or they are caused by carcinogens (cancer-causing agents), for example sunlight and cigarette smoke.
Our body cells are continually exposed to carcinogens however in the majority of cases cancer doesn't develop. There are a number of reasons why this is so, for example:
Cells can normally repair their own damaged genes so that they continue to function properly. • More than one gene has to be damaged in order for cancer to develop.
The body's immune system can normally kill any cancer cells before they get the chance to multiply and form a tumor. There are lots of questions and agony About Cancer, as we are unknown about all the facts about cancer. So first we should know the real effects and cure About Cancer.
There is a question to all: Is cancer curable?
A few years back, the answer would have been no. But, now the answer is yes. This is because of the cancer’s clinical picture has changed. The prognosis of cancer is bright and not bleak because of the results got from new research studies and tests. Recent studies reveal the fact that cancer when treated properly with surgery can be controlled than the other type. Patient’s survival too increases with the treatment options available now. Even though the risk of the patient dying during surgery is said to be high, once the patient survive the surgery their survival time period chances are very bright and more often greater than five years after surgery.
This has given hope to many patients and the doctors or physicians who are treating such patients suffering from cancer and the question of “Is Cancer Curable?” becomes immaterial and illogical.
Researchers who have conducted various studies on various types of cancer patients have come to a conclusion that if the patients are studied closely, barrett’s esophagus and chronic heartburn can be controlled to a greater extent and in turn the incidence of adenocarcinoma is avoided. The actual problem with barrett’s esophagus is that most of the patients (nearly ninety percent) might not even be aware of the fact that they are suffering from the health problem. Complementary and alternative therapies are known to work well on patients suffering from cancer than the conservative therapies of the past.
