Dona Paula Beach In Goa..
Baga beach was a real fun. I was on an unplanned trip to Goa without any reasons; actually one of my friends ditched the trip to Goa so I was the lucky one to be chosen as side kick to the group of goan travelers. Believe me it was not a bad decision, we got down at Panjim station and from there we went to Baga beach and it was a real fun with my pajama friends. We spent whole day on that beach and decided to rent a room for a month. I was unaware that it was going to be the wisest decision of my life until now. Because I never felt so good before...what a cool breeze that was, I used to feel in Goa. I will never forget that coolness in the morning breeze when sun used to cracking through the window. We used to recall all the past day activities in the night and in morning as well. I will always cherish those moments I spent in Goa.
We had been to Baga beach and now we were planning to visit some other fascinating beaches as well. We decided to go to Dona Paula next. This beach is located approximately 7 kms from Panjim and it is in North Goa district. In morning we were looking for proper transport to visit Dona Paula ...
... beach. As we were looking for a taxi to come we saw the Kadamba Bus Terminal which is the place from where the buses normally left. The climate was excellent as we were in Goa at the right time. Ideal time to visit Goa is between Novembers to February. Now coming back to Dona Paula, this is the beach where many bollywood movies have been shot. Then the taxi came and I was wondering why this beach is named Dona Paula. So I asked Sujay (my friend), why Dona Paula beach is named like this??? Why not Madonna Beach or GaGa Beach??? Sujay laughed and said that this beach is named after the then viceroy by the name of Dona Paula de Mezes. She wanted to marry Gasper Dais. Her father was against this marriage. She therefore committed suicide and later this place becomes favorite for lovers. Hence this beach is also known as "Lovers' Paradise". I was amazed at his knowledge bank. I suggest him why are you wasting your money in B. Tech.???, being a guide here in Goa would be more profitable rather than an engineer.
Well, jokes apart, we visited Dona Paula and enjoyed a lot there. We also visited the Bay of Dona Paula where two rivers Zuari and Mandovi merge into Arabian Sea. The harbor of Marmagao was seen from a distance. This harbor was the trade centre of Portuguese whence they ruled over Goa.
It was a real fun and a lifetime experience for me to visit Goa. When we were leaving from Goa, all of us were really feeling sad and we were wishing that we can stay here forever. But the reality is that things never go your way. Whatever journey starts, it has to come to an end one day. The simplicity of the surroundings and the absolutely magnificent ambience rendered me completely weak and I just didn't want to go back from this place.
