India has its root deep in tradition and culture, but when it comes to Indian clothing you will notice some level of flexibility and adaptability. There was a time when dresses were strictly to exhibit one’s religion and region and so people were known by their dresses also. However, this is not the case nowadays because men and women have come closer and hence the tradition and culture of different regions and religions have also mixed up. For example shalwar-kameez was known as dress worn by Muslims at one time. But today, many women wear this attire as it is comfortable, easy to carry and helps them accentuate the womanly curve as well.

However, saree is one of the most common Indian clothing that can be seen in almost every part of India. This is the attire worn by Indian woman and consists of a long unstitched cloth that is draped in a specific style around the waist and is worn with a blouse on the top. A part of the saree is left on the shoulder and is known as pallu or aanchal. The size, style and design of the pallu reflect the place where ...
... the wearer lives along with her social status and personal preference. The material of the saree also reflects the societal status of the wearer.

The material used to make Indian clothing is cotton or silk if tradition is to be taken into consideration. However, nowadays there are many materials in which different types of Indian clothing is being designed and marketed. Men usually wear kurta-pajama for special occasion as well as for casual wear too. Depending on the area in which the man lives, the accessories are added to this basic dress. Turban is also a part of dressing for men and it is a form of headwear. The style of covering the head with a turban varies from one place to another.

There is no doubt that Indian clothing is known for its originality, grace and sophistication. One of the most remarkable features of Indian dresses is that they are comfortable to wear and offer certain amount of flexibility and adaptability that makes it acceptable to most fashionable class of women too. The best thing is that they make any person appear graceful and stylish no matter how modern he or she is. Indians love to stay deep into their tradition and this reflects in the designing and styling of even the latest Indian clothes.
