Memorable Trip From Mysore To Ooty
Ooty, the heaven on earth, is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Nilgiri Hills or Blue Mountains, Ooty is a favourite hill station for all tourists. Known as the 'Queen of Hill Stations' by the British, Ooty was their summer retreat during colonial days. Ooty, the former capital of the Nilgiri district, offers serene atmosphere, blue misty weather and the green valleys. The official name of Ooty was Udhagamandalam. The British changed the name Udhagamandalam to Ootacamund and later to Ooty.
Lying at an elevation of 2286 m, the city of Ooty is a land of flowers and trees. A famous Kurinji flower, blue in colour, blossoms once in twelve years here. The Botanical Garden of Ooty, established in 1847, is a very important place to visit for the tourists as well as for the students. Ooty retains the colonial style bungalows, fire places and stonewalled churches. The aroma of spices and tea filled in the atmosphere.

The erstwhile Wodeyar's land, Mysore is situated in the state of Karnataka. The city of Mysore is the second largest city in Karnataka with a rich history. Situated at a distance of 130 km from the capital city of Bangalore, Mysore was the capital of the Wodeyars during their dynasty. Mysore amazes its visitors by its stunning palaces, sprawling gardens, religious places, rich culture and heritage. The city of Mysore has maintained its old tradition of art, music, folklore, painting and literature even today. The main landmark of the city is the Chamundi Hill where the famous Chamundeswari Temple is situated.
Ooty does not have an airport or railway station. The nearest airport to Ooty is Coimbatore. Cabs are easily available to reach Ooty at a rate of Rs. 2500/- for a trip. The nearest railhead is Mettupalayam. From there you can get the toy train to Ooty.
Alternately, you can take a bus from Mysore to Ooty which is also comfortable. It takes almost 3 and half hours to reach Ooty from Mysore.
Cabs charge Rs. 3300/- for 4 travellers. For more than 4 tourists, the cost increases to around Rs. 4300/-.
If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 2 hours 20 minutes to cover 127 km from Mysore to Ooty depending upon the vehicle.
