Red Cross First Aid Courses In Ontario
In Ontario, Canada, the Red Cross offers a full spectrum of first aid programs for youth to adult, for home through pre-hospital care. Globally, Red Cross is the leader in first aid through its more than 190 member Societies. In Canada, each year our program is taught to over half a million Canadians.
The prevention of injuries is incorporated into every course. The Red Cross want people to know how to prevent injuries as well as know what to do when they occur. The aim of the Canadian Red Cross First Aid programs is to reduce death and suffering due to injury and sudden illness by training as many Canadians as possible in first aid.
The Red Cross has the privilege of being the sole Canadian organization on the International First Aid Science Advisory Board. All Canadian Red Cross courses meet the latest international first aid & CPR guidelines, and are reviewed and endorsed by the Canadian Red Cross National Medical Advisory Committee, whose members are emergency physicians. In addition, each course is reviewed and/or endorsed by many organizations with authority in relevant fields.

... The Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR courses in Ontario meet Canadian Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, Ontario Workers Safety Insurance Board regulations and is approved by Human Resources and Social Development Canada.

The content and materials for all Red Cross courses follow strict quality control guidelines for development and revision. Ontarians are familiar with the Red Cross brand and the quality of programs we offer.
Skill retention
For maximum retention, courses are based on a combination of teaching techniques that include: video and media presentations, skills demonstration, scenarios, practice, exercises, class discussions, and Q&A. The hands-on components are supported by a variety of training aids, according to each course’s requirements, such as mannequins for practising CPR, AED trainers, bandages, splinting materials, barrier devices, first aid kits, auto-injector trainers, inhalers, etc.
User-friendliness
Red Cross course materials are user-friendly tools that support the participants during the course and act as a valuable resource afterwards. They are reviewed on a regular basis to include the latest scientific research and to maintain an up-to-date look and
format. All Red Cross materials are available in English and French.
One of the largest Red Cross Training Partners in Ontario is Safety On Site First Aid and Safety Training (SOS First Aid). SOS First Aid offers Red Cross courses to private groups and at the workplace or to the public at convenient locations in Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton. SOS First Aid courses include Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid, CPR A, C, and HCP and AED. SOS First Aid also offers the Red Cross Babysitters course to youth aged 11-14.
