Enjoy Paradise In God’s Own Country
Tired of the same monotonous everyday routine? If you want to get away from the noise of honking cars, and want to take a breath of fresh clean air, or want to feast your eyes on long stretches of verdant greenery, then you might want to consider taking a holiday and signing up for a Kerala tour. Kerala is home to a great many natural attractions. Steeped in rich traditions, the art and culture that you find in its many temples will make you marvel. Its lazy backwaters call to you to boat along its waters. With its many attractions, it is an ideal tourist spot.
For example, Munnar – which translates as ‘three rivers’ – is a hill station, and having been a resort for government officials during the pre-independence period of India, it is today one of the most popular tourist sites in Kerala. It is now one of the highest tea growing estates. Greenery will surround you during this visit, with hills and tea gardens. Wayanad is also a popular hill station – its main attraction being Pakshipathalam. It is where several rare bird species can be sighted from the bird sanctuary’s watch tower. Kerala has national parks, ...
... wild life and bird sanctuaries – which are home to innumerable flora and fauna. Many endangered species call Kerala their home, including the Nilgiri Tahrs, tigers and leopards.
There are also many temples for those who are bent towards religion. Devotees flock to temples in Kerala – like the Guruvayoor temple, Shri Padmanabhaswami temple, the Sabarimala temple and the Vadakkunnathan temple. These temples are decorated with mural paintings, stone carvings and displays of arts and culture. There are also periodic displays of its many dance forms. Kathakali is quite famous, but the earliest form of Kerala art – Koodiyattam is lesser known. It is likely one of the last surviving displays of Sanskrit drama today. So be sure to take in the culture and arts of Kerala when you visit.
But without a doubt the most attractive part of Kerala are its backwaters. The Vembanad lake, the largest backwater in Kerala, runs through three districts and is a famous spot for relaxation. You can rent a boat to wade through these backwaters. There are boats which have not only a navigator but also a cook – these are boats which are transformed into floating house-boats. Depending on the number of people wishing to ride, and the size of the boat, the prices of these rentals differ. So why hesitate? Go ahead and enjoy a Kerala tour!
