How To Reach From The Towns Of Mysore To Ooty

Mysore and Ooty are two popular tourist destinations in India. Both the places are clubbed together in many of the tour packages due to their nearness. Mysore known as the City of Palaces and Ooty known as the Queen of Hill Stations are the most sought after tourist destinations in South India. And so, they are well connected with each other by rail and road.

Ooty is located at a distance of about 127 km away from Mysore. The best way to reach Ooty from Mysore is by car which takes a travel time of about 3 hours. The main place covered during the journey from Mysore to Ooty are Nanjangudu at about 25 km from Mysore, Gundlupet 37 km away from there, 56 km far from Gundalpetu is Kadasholai and at a distance of 11km away from Kadasholai is Ooty.

The nearest airport to Ooty is at Coimbatore. There are no direct flights from Mysore to Coimbatore. Thus journey by flight is not possible directly from Mysore to Ooty.

There are no direct trains available from Mysore to Ooty. So journey by train to Ooty from Mysore is also not recommended. The nearest railway station to Ooty that provide train services from Mysore ...

A number of private taxis and cabs are available from Mysore to reach Ooty. The travel time between Mysore and Ooty by car is about 3 hours. The journey is interesting since it passes many jungle bungalows and forests. Private taxis and cabs can charge from 12 rupees to 55 rupees per kilometer depending upon the type of vehicle chosen by the traveler.

There are direct buses available to travel from Mysore to Ooty. The journey by bus takes about 4 hours to reach Ooty from Mysore. There are government buses as well as private bus services to travel from Mysore to Ooty. Ooty bus station is located in the city center itself.

Since roadways are the only easiest and comfortable mode of transportation between Mysore and Ooty, the most recommended mode is also the same. Journey by car is most suitable for families with kids, group travelers and senior citizens, to travel from Mysore to Ooty. Journey by bus from Mysore to Ooty is suited for youngsters, backpackers and individual travelers.

There are a lot of restaurants, ATMs and petrol bunks on the way to Ooty from Mysore. Those travelers with traveling sickness will have to take extra breaks in between the travel from Mysore to Ooty since the way can be hilly with lot of twists and turns. But due to the short hours of travel, journey to Ooty from Mysore is considered to be comfortable.
