Dangers exist everyday in the construction industry from equipment malfunction to falling debris. As a result, construction workers need to consider safety precautions before starting any job as well as remain on the forefront of a construction worker’s mind during the job. One area that is often overlooked is protection from working all day in the sun.

OSHA has recognized yet another serious concern for workers who spend extended periods of time in the sun and is warning workers to protect themselves when in such extreme exposure. The United States Department of Labor has included sun protection as a part of what comprises a safe workplace. Without taking appropriate precautions, exposure to the sun creates working conditions that pose a risk of serious harm. In an in their effort to protect the right of workers to work in a safe place, OSHA understands the importance of protection in the sun.

Many health organizations in addition to OSHA are raising awareness about skin cancer in the attempt to curb related health issues and deaths caused by extended exposure in the sun. Ultraviolet radiation from the sun is ...
... what causes the skin damage that eventually leads to skin cancer. Spending long amounts of time in the sun puts construction workers, among others, at a high risk for skin cancer.

Despite the best efforts of OSHA and other health organizations, not all people understand the grave reality of contracting skin cancer. It is the most common cancer in the United States as half of all cancers diagnosed are skin cancer. Statistically speaking, every hour one person dies from skin cancer. Plus, it affects a large amount of Americans. Throughout their lifetime, one out of every six Americans will develop skin cancer. Because construction workers spend more time in the sun than any other group of Americans, they are at the highest risk for skin cancer.

Once construction workers are aware of the risks the sun, they can begin to take proper steps to prevent damage. Some workers are under the wrong impression that over-the-counter grade sunscreen is strong enough to offer protection from the sun. Working long hours in the sun is no day at the beach and more protection is needed than offered by consumer sunscreen products.

Industrial strength sunscreen is the only product that can provide the protection required by outside workers. Industrial sunscreen lotion is strong enough to last all day because its formula that covers the broad spectrum and contains zinc oxide. Skin cancer is preventable, with an industrial strength sunscreen lotion made by R&R Lotions.

When considering all of the safety precautions to take while on the job, construction workers must consider the likelihood of getting skin cancer from exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun. Skin cancer is a serious disease that cannot be overlooked by construction workers and it requires a serious sunscreen lotion to provide adequate protection. The industrial sunscreen products of R&R Lotions can protect construction workers from the sun.
