The Role Of Nutrition In Health
Increasingly the medical profession is emphasising the role of good nutrition, when it comes to staying healthy. They are advising people to eat a healthy diet and to take adequate exercise.
Research shows that good nutrition can reduce your risk of suffering from diabetes, most heart diseases, mesothelioma, as well as a long list of cancers and many other diseases. The body needs a range of proteins, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins and minerals to fight disease. They are the building blocks the body uses to build its defences, the majority of which can our body can only get in one way, i.e. through what we eat.
If any of the building blocks are missing or in short supply the body's defence system is weaker than it should be allowing serious diseases to take hold. Once that happens the body has to work twice as hard. It has to fight off the existing disease whilst still maintaining defences against other new diseases. At this stage, good nutrition becomes even more vital.
The Role of Nutrition in Fighting Disease
Once disease takes a hold adjusting the diet can help in many ways. Boosting certain ...
... vitamins and minerals can help the body to fight off the disease. For example, it is now understood that vitamin D can be used to accelerate recovery from TB.
Increasingly doctors around the world are using medical nutrition products to help people to cope better with the symptoms of their diseases. The impact HIV and AIDS has on a person can be considerably reduced using good quality nutrition products something both UNAIDS and the WFP have recognised. Studies show that good nutrition helps HIV/AIDS sufferers to fight off infections and to suffer from fewer infections. This allows them to live longer and fuller lives.
Advanced Medical Nutrition
There are several different kinds of medical nutrition products available. For those who are able to eat normally there are numerous oral products available. They can be used to supplement a normal diet or when they are unable to eat much normal food. For those unable to physically swallow or digest regular food there are products that can be administered via a feeding system. These are known as enteral nutrition products.
