American Dad is an American animated situational comedy series which was written and produced by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The serial gave its debut on May 1, 2005. Joel McNeely and Walter Murphy were the composers of the show and have given 133 episodes in 7 seasons up till now and still in action. 20th Television is the distributor of the show. The duration of the series is 22-24 minutes to run over Fox channel. Jonathan Fener, Brian Boyle, Judah Miller, Murray Miller, Erik Sommers were the co-executive producers for the show. Rob DeSales was the editor for the programme.
The story revolves around Stan Smiths who is a dysfunctional family who have Stan and Francine as his parents and children Harley and Steve and live with two pets called Klaus ad Roger. The family lived in Langley Falls, Virginia. The show does not concentrate on cutaway gags like Family Guy but centres on situational humour.

Smith works as CIA agent at neoconservative, Republican. He is married to Francine Smith and she is a normal housewife. The family is in search of their own possession ...

American Dad is the show which has different gags in different episodes with changed story in every episode. This fact bring into news paper headline that the jokes are directed at the United States Government. Episode 14 of season 3 “Office Spaceman” is the episode in which Stan picks up the newspaper an he read the headline “Alien Apotted” and then the music suddenly started. The voice cast for the show includes MacFarlane who gave his voice to Stan Smith and Roger.

Wendy Schaal voiced Francine Smith, Steve Smith received voice from Scott Grimes and Rachael MacFarlane voiced Hayley Smith. The fish Klaus Heissler also received a voice from Dee Bradley Baker. Patrick Stewart gave his voice for Stan’s boss Avery Bullock. Jeff Fischer gave voice to Hayley’s stoner boyfriend. The cycle received positive response from critic with 7.2 scores out of 10 as per Metacritic.
Initially show was compared with Family Guy as per the similar story line but they finally found the difference between both and rated it accordingly. The fist season received 85th rank among all the comedy shows with 7.1 million viewers. The second season received around 7.6 million viewers with 79th rank.

In third season the viewers were reduced to 6.6 million and then gradually the rank as well every year but in seventh season the show had 110th rank with 5.47 million viewers. American Dad received nomination for Primetime Emmy Awards and Annie Awards. It also earned rating from TV-14, though it was critically criticised by Parents Television Council who tried to criticise co-creator MacFarlane.
