Not to make a joking matter out of it but car accidents, whether you’re careful or not, happens to the best of us. And if you came out of it alive with barely a scratch on the body (yours, not of the car) then all you can really do at that point is to crack jokes.

Of course, when you’ve screwed your heads back on and see the magnitude of the damage on the body (of the car, not yours) then it’s time to take action and call your personal injury lawyer in Mesa, AZ to deal with the situation.

We’re still kidding. But on a serious note, other than considering the need for personal injury lawyers because you might really require their help, there are things you can do when you get into a car accident.

1. Screw Your Head Back On

You feel that sudden whiplash from something at the back of your car. For a second you think you’re imagining things but then you realize somebody has hit your car.

Stay calm. Don’t freak out. Stop thinking of your husband whom you think is going to kill you for this. The first thing you must do is compose yourself because nothing sensible ever came out of a panic ...
... mode.

Check yourself for injuries. Shock often numbs out pain so you need to see if you’re hurt. If you’re with someone, check if they’re okay too, especially the one sitting beside you because that passenger seat is the most susceptible to injuries.

2. Call the Police

Not to get the guy who hit you hauled to jail. You need a police authority to report on the accident. Call 911 to convey the situation so they can send not just a police but emergency authorities if they’re needed.

3. Exchange Numbers

While you’re waiting for the authorities to arrive, swap details with the other driver. Get these information from him:

· Name

· Address

· Phone numbers

· Driver license

· License plate number

· Insurance company and policy number.

If he’s nice enough to apologize, be cordial with him. No need to pop a nerve if things can be done amiably. We’re sure he didn’t want this to happen as well.

If he’s not nice, call your personal injury lawyer in Mesa, AZ. We’re still kidding (although do that when he’s completely uncooperative or if things are getting out of hand).

Although it’s highly encouraged not to exchange unnecessary facts with him like how you’re feeling at the moment or admitting it’s your fault as well. We said be cordial not friendly. When the dust settles things might make a turnaround and you don’t want to have to take back what you said.

4. Examine Your Car

After all that, check the damages to your car. If you have a camera, take pictures or make any form of documentation on your own other than what the police would report. Document the damages on the other car as well as a wide view of the whole accident. These are just precautionary measures in case there’s a dispute.

If you feel the need to call your personal injury lawyer in Arizona then do so. He might have a few pointers on how to document the whole thing properly.

5. Say a Little Pray’r

If this is just a minor accident and all you really got out of it is a few bumps (and a lousy t-shirt) then thank the heavens you’re all right. Better the car than you.

For a Personal Injury Lawyer Mesa AZ, there is only one name you can trust - Johnson Law Group - for personal injury, malpractice law, and Arizona Car Accident Lawyers.
