A humidifier with humidistat in a hydroponic grow room can help regulate the humidity level. Although a digital humidistat may be easier to read, one with a dial is just as effective. It is not necessary to buy the most expensive one, because all hydroponic humidistats function in the same general manner. If the humidity level drops too low, the plants might begin to wilt. Having a mist maker installed can increase the humidity level. There are mist makers that can be hooked up to turn on automatically when the humidistat reaches a certain reading. However, if the humidity levels are too high, mold and mildew might develop.

To combat this problem a humidistat fan can be installed to help remove some of the dampness from the air. A humidistat extractor fan can also help eliminate odours in the hydroponic garden, especially when it is used in combination with an ozone generator. The air ozone generator uses UV light to eliminate the odours. In addition, ozone generators can also help control spider mites.

Hydroponics and Carbon Dioxide

Plants in hydroponic gardens depend on carbon in many ways, such as carbon ...
... dioxide or CO2. If the hydroponics CO2 level is not properly managed, the photosynthesis process is compromised and the plants will not thrive. A CO2 controller or CO2 regulator can help maintain the proper level of CO2 in the grow room. In some instances, a CO2 generator can produce the necessary amount of CO2. Another use for carbon in hydroponic gardening is as a component in carbon filters hydroponics. Growing any type of plants in a confined environment can produce odours that many people do not find pleasant.

By installing activated carbon air filters on the exhaust system of the grow room, the odours can be eliminated as the expelled air passes through. The active carbon filter should be checked often and changed when needed in order to continue the level of filtration. There are also activated carbon water filters for hydroponic or other types of gardening. These carbon water filters remove the excess minerals and salts in tap water so that they do not offset the balance of the nutrient solution. There are various types of carbon filter kits available on the market so it is important to get the right carbon filter kit for whichever type of hydroponic garden system is being used.
