How To Save Money On Your Hot Tub Electric Bills

If you own hot tubs in Lincolnshire you are probably aware of how much energy they can consume. Hot tubs are a wonderful luxury, but they can really make your electric bills more expensive!
However, there are many ways that you can cut down the energy consumption of your hot tubs so that you will save money on your monthly electric bills. All you need to do is follow these simple tips:
- First and foremost, is your hot tub cover in good shape? A well maintained and insulated cover will prevent heat from rising up out of your hot tub and save energy. If the cover is old and worn, a replacement might be necessary. If it is in good condition, make sure that it is secured properly and strapped tight to the top of the spa.
- Most hot tubs will come set to a default temperature, but you can probably decrease that temperature a couple of degrees. You won’t notice the difference of a couple degrees on your body, but it will use considerably less power and save you quite a bit of money over the long run.
- Make sure that you turn your hot tub heater down to the lowest setting while you are on holiday, or ...
... turn it off completely. However, if it is freezing outside you should leave the heating on somewhat to prevent freeze damage to the pipes.
- Some power companies will offer reduced rates on energy during off-peak hours. If your hot tub has a timer circuit you can schedule the spa to heat during those off-peak times. If the spa is well insulated it will maintain its heat for several hours afterwards.
- Remember to shut off all of the jets and the water lights when the hot tub is not in use. They will use energy as well as cooling the water temperature which will cause the spa heater to work harder.
- Another way to reduce the energy consumption of hot tubs in Lincolnshire is to create a windbreak around the area. Wind blowing over your hot tub pulls heat away from it which wastes energy. Create a barrier around the tub with shrubs, fencing, privacy panels or other spa enclosures.
- When buying hot tubs, avoid choosing those with air blower motors. These types of motors are loud and they also use up way too much energy and lower the water temperature. Instead, choose one with a hydro jet system instead.
With these tips you will be able to reduce the energy consumption of your hot tubs and save yourself money on your energy bill.
