Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, and Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal are two main cities in India. Kolkata is at a distance of about 1970 km away from Mumbai. Kolkata is well-connected to Mumbai through all modes of transportation, air, rail and road.

Travel by road is not recommended to reach Kolkata from Mumbai since the distance can only be covered within 24 hours even by using the train services available. There is less number of private vehicles available to travel from Mumbai to Kolkata since the trip by road can be troublesome. Bus services by the government and private agencies to travel from Mumbai to Kolkata are less in number due to security reasons.

Though there are a number of trains running between the railway stations, the best train is the HWH Duronto that provides services only on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This train does not stop in any stations between Mumbai and Kolkata. Kolkata Howrah Junction railway station is located at a distance of about 2 km away from the city center. A lot of taxis, rickshaws and buses are available from the Kolkata Howrah Junction railway station to the city center.

This is the most suitable mode of transportation from Mumbai to Kolkata for the aged and families with kids.
