Mobile Marketing Has Strong Fingers

OK, we know that mobile marketing doesn't have fingers, it's not a living thing. It continues to have a strong grip though. Recent surveys show it continues to climb it's way steadily into our lives, and to the top of marketing strategies.
While Mobile continues it's move, the strong surge in social media marketing, according to an Association of National Advertisers survey, has reached a plateau. This is not because it isn't a very useful marketing tool. It's just that seemingly everyone is already there. Mobile is a slightly different story in this regard.
Steady and growing
That same survey also revealed that mobile marketing continues to be a growth area. Usage is steady, but more companies are currently launching mobile marketing campaigns for the first time. Seventeen percent of respondents plan to begin using it next year.
So why all the room for growth? Although the message about the benefits of mobile campaigns has been expressed for a while, not everyone got involved. Perhaps it's the technology, or the multitude of options – to app, or not to app, and what do we do with these QR code things?

... just makes sense to get into mobile. Consider this from the Interactive Advertising Bureau – nearly 70% of people never leave home without their mobile phone. Nearly half of respondents to this survey said their smartphones make them more efficient.
Reach the target
So, with people wanting to almost always be in possession of their smartphone, and feeling more efficient when they are, why not tap into that? Play into the efficiency angle. Make it easier for them to find you, learn about you, and get something from you with a mobile campaign.

A recent mashable post highlights some interesting advice on mobile campaigns, and companies should like what it says. According to mobile and emerging technology strategist Scott Forshay, businesses don't need to increase their mobile budgets. While recent surveys show 70% of marketers planning to increase their mobile budgets in 2013, he says, no. Just get smarter about what you do with what you're investing.
Get it right
Think local, think deals, think fast, easy to navigate pages and you'll get it right. Not everyone needs an app. Consider if it will truly enhance people's ability to do business with you. If you plan on getting into QR codes, give people the experience they want.
The most common reason given (43%) of people for scanning QR codes is to get discounts, coupons, or free items. About 26% say they are looking for information on a product or service, followed by gaining access to exclusive content. Last on the list was getting information about your brand or company.
So listen to what consumers are saying and wrap your fingers around mobile marketing. It's not just your web experience shrunken down, it's a whole new world at people's fingertips that can make it easier for them to do business with you.
