Education

A professional undergoes a complete and challenging education, and be licensed by the state in which they practice. Courses of study include physics, anatomy, pharmacology and physiology.

• Counsel patients as they adjust to changes in their lifestyle
• Educate a patient's family
• Provide additional resources for patients such as sign language or lip reading classes

Other services not directly related to patient care include record keeping and research. An Audiologist is responsible for keeping accurate records of each visit to help chart the progress and anticipate the future needs of each patient. Many hearing professionals dedicate their careers to research in order to improve treatments and technologies related to hearing and balance disorders

When visiting a professional for the first time you should expect a thorough and competent assessment of your health history and present concerns. These professionals are dedicated, intelligent individuals who could have chosen many different career paths, but chose hearing health because they have compassion and sincere concern for those who are challenged by hearing loss.
