A quick trip to Melbourne for the weekend might not be something you would have considered this winter, but once you take a look at some of the things you can do there, you might just change your mind. There are a number of interesting and worthwhile attractions that would certainly make your trip worthwhile. You can attend a concert, visit the arts and crafts fairs, and explore 100 of Melbourne’s most significant buildings. You have the film festival, the writer’s festival, the winter festival and you can’t afford to miss the docklands Fireworks display all of which are happening this time of the year. You will need to make sure that you pack warm clothes because it can get a little chilly, especially in the evenings. One of the first things you need to do is get your accommodation sorted out to ensure that you have a comfortable stay over the weekend.

There are a number of ideal options for you to choose from but all you really need is something centrally located and has enough facilities. Grandhotelmelbourne.com.au is a good example of a place that you ...
... could stay when you get there because they have everything you need right there in your room. In fact, you may not want to leave your apartment for the duration of your stay. Even though that might not be such a bad thing if the weather turns out bad, you still want to be able to get out and explore some what the city has to offer during the colder winter months. You might not be able to break out the wetsuit and kite surfing gear, but at least you can spend some time on the water doing a bit of fishing or taking a boat ride up river for a few hours. You may want to explore the wine lands in the interior that are located along the river banks and extend all the way up to the Dandenong mountain range. The mountains make a great sight for anyone to see, so even if you are the designated driver for a given wine route, you can at least sit back and enjoy the scenery while everyone else gets a little pickled. If you have kids coming along for the ride, then you can get them to take a ride on Puffing Billy, the only working Steam engine in the region.

As you can see, there is plenty for everyone to do during this winter, so make sure you get down to Melbourne for a quick weekend break.
