There are many countries, such as China, that respect Muslim traditions and provide Halal friendly holidays, ensuring a convenient visit for Islamic travellers. Holidaymakers will be able to travel to many destinations in the world and still have access to mosques and Halal food, while experiencing Muslim culture as well!
China is a great destination for Islamic holidays. Boasting thousands of years of history, there is much to experience and enjoy here including the famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites - The Great Wall of China and the gorgeous Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Other must visit attractions in Beijing include the iconic Olympic 2008 venues – the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, the latter of which has been converted into an indoor water park and is the largest of its kind in Asia. The Niujie Mosque, built in 966 during the Liao dynasty is the oldest mosque in Beijing and a centre for 10,000 Muslims living in the vicinity.
Shanghai, ...
... the most populated city in China is also perfect for Islamic holidays. It is referred to as a ‘global city’, and is a great example of the booming economy of China, being the financial and commercial centre of the country. It is famous for The Bund – a collection of rich early 20th century architecture, museums, and other iconic landmarks such as the City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden. Shanghai also has many mosques including Xiao Taoyuan Mosque, Nuxingzhenshi Women’s Mosque and Fuyou Lu Mosque.
Xi’an, one of the oldest cities in China, is another popular destination for Islamic holidays owing to its historical monuments and ancient ruins. Some important sites here include the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta Army as well as the city’s Muslim quarter (Islamic Street), which is home to the oldest mosque in China - the Great Mosque of Xi’an. The mosque is still used by Chinese Muslims as a place of worship and the area has been a home to them for over a thousand years. Those looking to experience how Islam spread throughout China should opt for tours along the Silk Road, which was the trading route of ancient China, encompassing areas of Urumqi, Turpan and Kashgar.
China is an excellent destination for those looking for Islamic holidays. Serendipity Travel offers Muslim travel to several destinations in China.
