Safe Machine, a subsidiary of April Software LLC, has been working on a solution to the unprecedented, often unknown, ability of others to view other people private files. Instead of uploading unsecured data to the Internet, the Safe Machine software encrypts the data before uploading to the cloud or onto a local drive, and only the registered owner of the files has the decryption key.

The problem Safe Machine has with many of the data storage services worldwide is their inherent ability to look at the data you are storing. Upon inspection, many data storage services have a clause that allows the service provider the right to review, at will, all of the data stored with them, making the idea of secure data storage a moot point. The progenitors of the Safe Machine Project believe this to be an egregious intrusion upon the rights of the service's users.

Safe Machine formally announces the launch of their completely secure data storage solution. The source of their confidence in the Safe machine systems lies in how the data is encrypted, and how it is stored. Users of the Safe Machine service have the option of storing ...
... data anywhere they want, whether it be on Safe Machine's severs or on local storage devices such as hard drives, CD, thumb drive, ghost drive or any other hardware device the user owns or uses.

The data storage scheme is elegant, yet very simple in how members use it. All of the encryption and decryption of files and data are done on the user's computer or device. Only a computer with the proper application, password and encryption/decryption key can access the files. To put it simply, only a user's computer can upload, download and read the files from Safe Machine.

To further the security of user data, Safe Machine never has access to the decryption key necessary. To further that point, Safe Machine never has the chance to record or log the key, because all encryption and decryption are done on the user's computer, not on the Internet. Simply put, only the user, with the right computer, and the right decryption key, can ever access any of the data stored using the Safe Machine system.
