Why Medications For Cold Sores Are Unable To Produce Results Consistently

Cold sores are unsightly skin problems that most people do not want. It is a viral infection. The herpes simplex virus is responsible for it. Most patients are looking for an effective cold sore treatment in order to get rid of its symptoms. When you notice that you have the symptoms of cold sores, what you need to do is to visit a doctor to get the help you needed.
A number of prescription medicines are available in the market that can cure cold sores. The patients will get their medicines as prescribed by their doctors at the pharmacies. They have the confidence that someday they will get rid of the problem. However, don't expect too much from these medicines to stop the virus from attacking again. There are 3 reasons that you should know why these medicines cannot give the solution that you need.
First of all, using a topical solution such as the Zovirax cream can treat the blisters and other symptoms that you feel outside only. You could simply think that your problem will not be fully answered with a topical application. Almost all medicines available in the market are just designed to hasten the healing process. ...
... However, they cannot block the reoccurrence of the infection.
As mentioned before, plenty of antiviral prescription medicines are designed for cold sores. However, what they can do for you is to slow the development of the problem and to inhibit the multiplication of herpes virus. This will allow your body to defend itself against the infection. Medicines like Valtrex and Zovirax are incapable to treat cold sores and herpes they will just give temporary relief for the symptoms. Likewise, take note that you can transmit the infection to anyone even you have medicines for it already.
The third reason is that such medicines are prohibited to be used by those people who have poor immune system. They must not be taken by the patients who have genetic defect and HIV infection. They are not also good for those who are recently undergoing chemotherapy, large doses of corticosteroids and immuno-suppressants. They have to consult their doctor first and they are strictly prohibited to take any of these prescription drugs with no permission coming from their doctor.
Furthermore, they are not the solution for your cold sores if you learned that you are allergic to their ingredients. Thus, it means that they can give you some side effects. Refrain from using them and call your doctor once you feel any side effects. You must be admitted to a hospital if you are suffering with any of these: fever, bleeding, diarrhea or vomiting.
Those are all the reasons why the prescription medicines like Zovirax and Valtrex is not helpful. Maybe you can just get help from them if your condition is not severe. On the other hand, when you are immune-compromised and you are allergic to these medicines, they will not be able to treat your condition. Remember, there is no cure for herpes infection. The prescriptions only provide temporary relief.
