Families that own pets at home are the ones who are most prone of having Asthma. Asthma came from a Greek word that means “panting.” It truly describes what happens to a person who experiences the indications of asthma attacks. It’s an inflammatory illness on a person’s airways letting him have the indications of difficulty in breathing, wheezing, and coughing and chest tension. There are many known and common causes of asthma such as tobacco and wood smoke, polluted air, irritants like perfumes or cleaning products, molds, dust, anxiety, eczema, and animal dander.

Let’s talk about pet’s dander. The common misunderstanding of everyone is that pet’s hair increases the risk of asthma of the family. Well, they thought of it the wrong way. Internal medicine doctors have studied about it before and concluded that the dander, a protein found in dead skin flakes, pet urine and saliva, causes asthma.

Dander travels through the air making the family more vulnerable to asthma attacks and indications. It can be anywhere in your house. Carpets and furniture draw dander most probably. Cats and dogs, which are ...
... the most universal pets found in many homes, aren’t the only animals that produce dander. Birds, rabbits and horses also do have it. The rationale behind why many people assume that pet hair causes asthma is because hairless animals do not actually cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks because they don’t produce dander at all. The most common action that families do to cure or avoid asthma at home is getting or removing pets away. It can be, but it isn’t still the best thing to do as dander may still be present in your house for a long time.

For you to worry less, internists suggested simple tips on how to eliminate pet dander in your house. If you cannot pass up owning charming and cuddly pets like cats and dogs, just follow those simple tips. These are already proven by internal medicine studies and shouldn’t be disregarded.

First, install wood, laminate or floor tiles in your home instead of carpets. As mentioned above, pet dander travels through air and is usually engrossed by carpets. If by any chance that you don’t want to get rid of your carpets, then you have to clean and vacuum it every single day. Second is by giving your pets their own home or bed. Don’t let them reside on your furniture because they may produce more dander than ever. Also remove cloth curtains. You can try to replace them with satin or any silk. Another and last suggestion from the internal medicine doctors is the usage of an air filter. HEPA or High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter is a good example and it would cost you less than treating asthma.

Most of the causes of asthma can be found anywhere. But, they’re very possible to be seen at home. Having asthma can be costly and health hazardous. You must do everything to keep living a healthy life every day. Where else should you start but in your home!
