The weather is beautiful, plenty of sunshine and nice warm temperatures; the last thing on your mind during July or August is finding a property somewhere warmer. Yet, if you consider the situation more carefully, the summer is actually the best time to begin your search for Playa del Carmen real estate. Consider the following.

During the summer, everyone is quite comfortable in the warm sun back home – so comfortable, in fact, that they usually forget that the summer is only going to last for another month or two. Most people don’t want to remember this fact and choose not to think about it, preferring to enjoy their moment of sunshine as though it will last for ever. This may be a healthy approach – in the short term, at least.

Since this is how most people are thinking, this means that fewer people than normal are down on Mexico’s beaches (including Playa del Carmen) looking for properties. ... be willing to be more flexible on negotiation, whether it’s about the final price, or (in the case of developers) throwing in a few extras. This means that you’ll be in better shape to get a better price or more extras included if you start searching now.

On the other hand, the fact that fewer people searching also means that there will be less competition for that perfect property. Unfortunately in real estate, it can happen that while you’re in the negotiation process, someone else comes along and “snatches” away from you – especially in a beautiful beachfront location like Playa del Carmen where everyone wants to live, and prices are good. Since buying a condo or home in paradise is the last thing on most people’s minds during the summer, this is much less likely to happen. When you find that ideal property, it gives you that little bit of extra time to think it through and negotiate the terms best for you.

Finally, if you begin searching now, you will have the possibility of finding a property and taking ownership during the winter – ready to enjoy! If you start searching during the winter, well, you can’t expect to be enjoying that property the same winter you begin.
