Hip replacement is a very common procedure that is performed in India. When a patient reaches a point where he is unable to tolerate the pain and is unable to move, undergoing a surgery remains the last resort.
When it comes to a hip replacement operation, the affected parts around the hip area get replaced with the artificial ones. The affected parts in the hip area are replaced. Although the procedure called total hip replacement is more of a major procedure. It is therefore a big decision to choose to undergo this surgery.
A normal kind of hip replacement surgery would last for one to two hours. In this surgery, the surgeon makes an incision on one side of the hip area. During this procedure the damaged muscles, the diseases bones and the affected tissue are removed. The undamaged areas of the hip are left intact. The damaged parts are replaced using the materials that help in simulation of natural movement of the hip area.
In a hip joint replacement in India, implants replace the damaged and affected parts. These implants ...
... work just the way a hip works. Implants are done to help improve the movement of the body. The replacements, however, may wear out within ten or fifteen wears. There are some people who may have to undergo a replacement surgery more than once in their lives.
Earlier, the hip replacement in India or abroad always involved a procedure that would require a huge incision to be made. But nowadays, surgeons usually opt for invasive procedures where there are smaller incisions and the recovery periods, hence, are smaller too. These minimal invasive surgeries including knee replacement surgery in India are performed upon young, healthy and active patients. In this kind of replacement procedure, newer parts get cemented into the bone. This procedure is the cemented procedure. In the procedure that’s un-cemented, replacements are usually with a porous surface which allows patient’s bone to develop and grow as prosthesis.
The young and the active people are extremely well-suited for the former procedure. There are some risks that are involved in hip replacement surgeries as well as knee replacement surgery in India. According to various surveys, 90% surgeries don’t really need a revision. There could be complications after the surgery but it is true that a good surgeon will always take the required precautions and provide the patient with a smooth road to recovery! Gift yourself a healthy life.
