Udaipur is a picturesquely beautiful city situated in the royal state of Rajasthan in India. The city of Udaipur is famous all over the world for its spectacular lakes and earned the name City of Lakes because it is full of pristine lakes that dominate the topography of the region. The city came into existence in the year 1559 and is named after its founder, Maharana Udai Singh II. It served as the capital of the kingdom of Mewar.

The largest fort of the country, Chittorgarh Fort, and the Kumbhalgarh Fort are some of the other famous forts of Udaipur. They act as the visible link between the present, and the rich historical past of the country.
Udaipur is accessible by land, air or train across several destinations spread across the country. It has the Dabok Airport, also known as the Maharana Pratap Airport which is located 24 km from the city. The city also has a widespread rail network with regular daily trains between Delhi and Udaipur and trains are considered to be the most accessible and cheapest mode of transport. Apart from air and rail, the city is also very well connected by road. Sitting midway on the famous Golden Quadrilateral, between Delhi and Mumbai, the National Highway 8 connects Delhi to Udaipur across a distance of 700 km making it apt for private journeys as well.
