Be sure to walk to the ramp first and make sure it is suitable for your trailer and boat. If you have a vehicle with low horsepower then you don't want to use a steep gravel ramp. If the weather conditions are too bad then a ramp may become too dangerous to use.

If you are using a partner then be sure to go over the launch process before you actually begin. If your partner is doing this for the first time then be sure they know how to brace themselves for the weight of the boat with the bowline. You don't want your partner to be pulled into the water by the force of the boat. You can also choose to launch your boat with someone in it so the engine can be started the moment its in the water and you can make room for the next boater.
