Sacramento Chiropractor Reveals Natural Acute Inflammation Recommendations
So, you’ve just had a flare up and are in a TON of pain. There are very specific ways in which you can use the power of natural anti-inflammatory protocols to decrease your pain and swelling quickly and effectively without having to pop a bunch of pills that may be harmful to your body. In our Sacramento Chiropractic office we regularly educate patients on how they can control acute inflammation on their own at home.
Patients are regularly asking us what they can do to avoid having to use the more common anti-inflammatory such as Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc. To avoid becoming dependent on these medications follow the simple directions below. (Remember to always talk to your doctor if you’re not sure of what to do or before taking any supplements).
Here’s exactly what to do:
1. Ice for 10 minutes at least 3-5 times per day until the pain goes down. “Why not heat…It feels better doc?” Because heat will increase inflammation, which means it will feel good for 10 minutes, but feel lousy for hours. TRUST ME USE ICE!!!
2. USE BROMELAIN TO REDUCE INFLAMMATION. What is Bromelain you ask? There are ...
... numerous natural anti-inflammatorys, and numerous ways for rating their potency. Because this tends to get too complicated, we are simply going to recommend products that we’ve come to trust. One of the most potent, natural anti-inflammatory supplements we’ve found is BromInj by Karuna. BromInj is a product that should be used when there is a NEW injury to the body, and not necessarily for chronic pain. We want to use this because it does not have the dangerous side effects that NSAIDS have (Motrin, etc.). Just read the side effects on the bottle and you’ll see that these can be very dangerous to our health.
3. These are other ways to reduce new/acute inflammation:
Enzymes – may be vegetable or animal. Examples include bromelain (pineapple) and pancreatic enzyme preparation (actually taken from the pancreas of an animal) (see above).
Herbs (& spices) – Examples include ginger, curcumin, boswellia
Salicylates – Example is white willow bark, high in salicylates, compounds similar, but not identical to, aspirin.
4. MOVE!!! I know the doctor used to say that you should rest, but guess what…That was a long time ago. The latest research tells us to move around when our back is in pain. This helps to facilitate healing. 20 minutes of walking will do wonders for you.
Those are some great ways to help control acute inflammation. If your pain does not seem to be decreasing on its own please contact our Sacramento chiropractor office or visit your local chiropractor so that you can eliminate your pain naturally without drugs and surgery.
