The music of Texas spans genres from blues, gospel, ragtime, jazz, conjunto, Tejano, country, zydeco, cajun, rock and roll, and many others. The music better than anything else, reflects the rich history and tremendous ethnic and cultural diversity of the area. This has been reflected with the huge success and growth of South by Southwest over the last 20 years, now one of the largest music events in the nation. The National Post wrote, In its 22 years, SXSW has grown from a tiny music festival in the Texas capital into a massive, unavoidable media beast that reflects, discusses and showcases trends in culture and media but also often creates them.

This rich history combined with such festivals as South by Southwest have paved the way for a new festival event in San Marcos this year, the World United Music Festival and Radio Conference being held on November 14, 15 and 16. Presented ...
... by the United States Entertainment Force and The Roots Music, the 3 day festival will be celebrating independent music made not only locally but nationally by bringing 150 bands to 8 stages. The radio conference will include not only informational panels that will address the technological, academic and business aspects of the music business that independent artists must utilize to be successful, but also serve as a reflection of the traditions and history of the music that has shaped the music business and community as we know it today. There will also be a technology portion of this panel-styled presentation that will address all of the new technology for recording and performance that are available to an artist today. All of this, coupled with live performances by the artists and networking opportunities with radio station personalities from around the world as well as independent record labels, will make this annual conclave a valuable experience for manufacturers, musicians, engineers, performers and radio personalities alike.
