Cleaning The Print Heads And Clogged Cartridges Of Your Inkjet Printer

Inkjet printers prints fast and high quality outputs and in order to prolong the life of your inkjet printer (particularly the printer’s print head) mean cleaning it and the ink cartridges regularly. Preventive maintenance is better than having a professional technician fix print head.

How to know if there’s clogging in your printer’s print head? These are the signs and symptoms to it:

When you see white (unprinted) lines on the printouts,
When you see patterns of faint or broken lines on the printouts,
When the paper remains blank after it leaves paper rack from the printer,
When this is the first time you’ll use your printer after leaving it unused for a long time – eventually printing problems will arise,
When the frequency of the problem occurs more often than usual and you end up having had to clean your printer’s print head at least twice a week or so,
If it comes to a point where you will have to clean your printer’s print head due to clogging, then you can follow these steps so you can fix print head.

1. There are cleaning cartridges available in the ...
... market now and you can use those to clean a clogged print head. Just install it as you would a replacement cartridge in your printer.
2. Initiate print head cleaning procedures as well as nozzle checks. Repeat this step if print quality is still unacceptable. Please take note that this procedure is only meant to fix print head and not for cleaning deteriorated or heavily damaged print heads.

If in case it isn’t the print head that’s clogged but only the cartridge nozzles, then proceed with these alternative methods:

1. Pour hot water on a small bowl, preferably at about 1 centimeter deep and rest the nozzle of the ink cartridge in it for about 5 – 10 minutes; this should facilitate cleaning by breaking down the hard dried clogged ink in the nozzles.

2. Remove the nozzles from the bowl and clean it dry using cotton swabs or soft tissue paper.

3. Replace the ink cartridge in the printer and initiate cleaning procedure on the print head.

4. If print quality is not good enough, then repeat the process all over again.

5. If this still doesn’t work then this time put it in an upside down position and swipe it with alcohol using a cotton swab. Get another clean cotton swab soak it in alcohol and let the ink cartridge sit on it all night – keep it in an upside down position.

6. Reinstall the ink cartridge back and initiate a cleaning procedure on the print head; this should fix print head problem by now. However, if this problem persists then it is time to buy a print head or an ink cartridge replacement or just buy a new unit.
