In an alcohol treatment center, they have room with blank walls that stare you in the face with all the understanding of a five-day rash. Sometimes you get to share the room with a partner, but sometimes you get to be on your own. It all depends on the working philosophy of the person in charge. But if you have the right mindset, you will most likely come out better than you went in.

The disease theory of alcoholism is a concept that a lot of regular people and professionals in the medical community alike find to be rather appealing. Watch them, and you will find that they sometimes watch you with an eye that says they think you are really sick and should be in rehab. Hope it never has to get to that.

You can be cured from alcoholism and drunkenness but you really need to be serious or else it might not work. If you are serious enough, check yourself into the treatment center nearest to you and adhere to their special lifestyle and rules. You could be out within weeks, changed.

Professionals in rehab centers do not know your specific story, and many times they do not need to know. Suffice to say that they ...
... know you have been through a rough time and that you are trying to put an end to that. Why else would you be there?

Alcohol treatment centers make use of Benjamin Rush's famous treatment recommendation for alcoholics. 'Taste not, handle not, touch not.' They back it up by providing you with distractions and other programs that help you focus instead on your reform.

In all honesty, you really have no control over your addiction or compulsion to alcohol. Thinking that you do is a farce and it will only lead you further from the things you need to do to find cure, such as enrolling in an alcohol treatment center.

Strangely enough, drunks and alcoholics are not the only ones you would find in an alcohol treatment center. Some people go to these places actually to catch some break and unwind. It does say something for the serenity of such environments.

Alcohol treatment centers are places of relative peace to the crazy environment around. This not to say that there aren't rough moments. When an 'in' patient is undergoing their 'withdrawal period', it could get really rough. But once this phase is over, everything is relatively serene. Want a holiday?
