Solving Problems With The Microphone On Your Hearing Aid

Have you ever experienced the loud screeching sound that your hearing aid makes because of some of the amplified microphones in them? Your first response may be to take a step back. However, the problem is not normally with the person wearing the hearing aid, but more often it is with the microphone itself. Some of the people who have hearing aids will receive feedback from the amplified microphones, as well as from their own microphones within their hearing aid. The distortion makes it almost impossible to be able to hear anything through the hearing aid. Solving a problem with interference is not as difficult as you may think it is.
Solving External Microphone Problems
Move the microphone away from where you are located, or else move yourself away from it. Microphones are essentially just a way for the sound waves to be able to make their way to some form of amplifier or another. This process is done through vibration. The microphone's diaphragm works to send the sound vibrations through a speaker. There are certain types of microphones that are capable of picking up some of the vibrations that come off of other ...
... surrounding structures that are too close to where the microphone is located. This in turn causes reverberation, which is the echoing sound that you will get on your amplified signal.
Try turning your microphone down and speak softer when the input is turned down. Microphones are capable of reaching a point where they are overloaded and they are no longer able to tolerate the level of the signal in terms of volume. This overload causes the microphone to become distorted.
Use a microphone that can offer you a better quality than the one you are currently using. Just like any other technology on the market, microphones are going to come in a variety of different performance levels. They can come with a small or a large diaphragm. Depending on the type of diaphragm they have, you may have one with a large amount of reverberation. It also matters how powerful the overall microphone is as to how well others are going to be able to hear it when in use. The microphones with a larger diaphragm are better equipped to handle an outdoor event or something in a large area. However, the microphones with smaller diaphragms are suited more for an indoor event or a gathering in a smaller location.
