Tummy tuck is the procedure to reduce fat content within abdominal section. It helps in shaping and reducing the waistline. However, there are certain things to keep in mind before going for this procedure.

Those who have been involved into heavy smoking activity should stop it before going for tummy tucks. Doctor will advise the patient to refrain from smoking activity for a certain period of days. In most of the cases, cutting down on smoking for a minimum 2 weeks, is recommended prior to going for the surgery. Post surgery, the patient need to refrain from smoking for at least 3 weeks. In fact, smoking post surgery can lead to delay in healing. Also, risk of several complications taking place is always there.

Then, it is necessary to maintain a well-balanced diet before surgery. Dieting too much can be injurious and harmful for health. With proper nutrition intake, healing will take place in a faster way. Those who are taking some sort of medicine on a regular basis, they need to consult surgeons and explain the situation properly. ...

Prior to the tummy tuck surgical procedure, there should be some particular items present within residence for post-operative care. Some of these items include:

Arrangement for ice packs
Presence of comfortable and loose clothing
Petroleum jelly and other medical ointments for incision recovery purpose
Cordless telephone
Bathroom chair and hand shower facility

What about complications?

Well, slight pain can be experienced in the operated area. However, it is temporary and will disappear after two three days. However, some sort of soreness can last for three to four weeks.
