Looking into the Aktins Diet

Obviously the Atkins diet was named after Dr. Robert Atkins in 1972. Dr. Atkins introduced the idea that weight gain was related to the consumptions of refined carbohydrates, like sugars and flour. He basically broke down the diet into four different phases. The four phases are the introduction phase, ongoing weight loss phase, pre-maintenance phase, and lifetime maintenance phase. Dr. Atkins breaks these phases down easily so they can be followed without any confusion.

The introduction phase is to pretty much cut out the consumption of carbohydrates in your diet. The idea is to get your body from burning glucose to burning stored fat instead. Dr, Atkins advises that you only eat protein in this stage, like meats and fish. The only allowed carbohydrates allowed in this stage are from green vegetables.

The ongoing weight loss phase is started when the person is around 10 pounds from their desired weight. This stage begins to introduce carbohydrates back into the diet and to observe carefully how much carbs they can allow back into their lives and still continue with ...
... their weight loss. This phase will also allow the person to realize what foods give them certain types of cravings. This phase also takes a lot of discipline, self-control, and honesty. You have got to be able to tell yourself what foods you need to stay away from. The pre-maintenance phase is pretty similar to the on-going phase, but instead of seeing how much weight you can still lose when adding carbs, this phase allows you to add more carbs to see when you will start gaining weight. This educates you to know how much is too much. After you have done the first three phases you can come up with a conclusion for your final phase, the lifetime phase. Gather all the information and set up guidelines for yourself to live by, once you hit your desired weight, you will now have the information you need to keep yourself at that desired weight.

The Atkins diet is a very effective diet, but you must make sure you stick to the plan, because if you do not, you are very likely to gain all your weight back and maybe even gain more. I advise to get a workout plan, so you can make sure that your not just losing weight but you are also obtaining a healthy heart. Cardio is a wonderful thing so try to mix some walking or running in with this diet.
