The popularity of Kakinada can be gauged from the fact that it has three nicknames that are complimentary. It is called the ', Pensioner's Paradise', Second Madras and the Fertilizer City. In area, it is the sixth largest city in Andhra, but population-wise, it is the ninth. Kakinada is a sea port and this has made it a hub for industries.
