Kerala - ‘God’s own country’- is a heavenly abode for travellers and vacationers, seeking a quantum of solace and a taste of the spiciest, and some of the most exotic food in the world! For this reason, most Kerala tours and travels operators offer holiday packages that cater to touring Kerala and tasting its best dishes. Every year millions of people buy South India tour packages to this colourful state in India and go away with memories of fresh backwater lakes, lush green agricultural lands, beautiful hill ranges, and of course, the food!

Almost all South India tour packages provide you with the access to various five star hotels with spas, jacuzzis, luxuriant pools, world class room services, plush rooms and exteriors - the whole nine yards! So you don’t have to worry about ‘finding a decent hotel’ on your Kerala tours, there are plenty of them. Now as far as the delicacies are concerned you could start your day with a very traditional breakfast called ‘putt’ or rice cake. As far as breakfast goes, this dish is a classic and all time favourite of every Keralite or ‘Malayalee’. It’s made in a ...
... peculiar way as well. Rice and coconut pulp are grinded and then heated in a cylindrical object called the ‘putt-kootti’. The thing about Putt is that it can be eaten with a variety of dishes, for example putt and ‘meen’ or fish curry is said to be the best combination, or you could even try peas curry, a very ripe banana or just your average banana, and even plain sugar! ‘Iddiappam’ - rice noodles - and ‘appam’- soft spongy rice flour pancakes - are other breakfast delicacies. As part of your Kerala tours package, it would be a crime to come to Kerala and not try the traditional Kerala breakfast.

The other ‘must-try’ delicacy to be included in your Kerala tours itinerary is the Masala king prawns. They are usually served wrapped in a banana leaf, and are very subtly spiced. Then there are the combinations of Tilapia fish curry and string hoppers. These string hoppers are made from rice noodles. ‘Meen’ or fish Mollee is another special delicacy. It’s a stew made from fish with onions and potatoes, along with a variety of ingredients like cloves, lime juice, coconut, black pepper and cinnamon. The fish Mollee is a dish that you will love at first bite!

For all the vegetarians out there, you’ll find that the pro biotic ‘Sadhya’ to be a mouth savouring treat. It’s a vegetarian dish that comprises rice, ‘pappad’ and various curries. ‘Sambar’ - a vegetarian stew prepared with onions, coriander, turmeric, chillies and crushed lentils - and ‘Thoran’ - a mixture of cabbage, string beans and grated coconut pulp – are also part of the delectable ‘Sadhya’.

The food, the people, the beautiful locations, put this all together and what you’re left with are fantastic Kerala tours. And that is what awaits every person who travels to Kerala. So check out the latest south India tour packages, and book a trip to Kerala today!
