Poor And Uninsured Flocking To U.s Health Centers
The Obama administration reported that poor and uninsured people have been increasingly relying on health centers across the country with an 18% increase from 2008 to 2011. As many as 20 million Americans are seeking care from these centers, compared to 17 million from for years ago.
According to Mary Wakefield of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, “Those numbers really took a big jump. A lot of those folks were people who, when they lost their jobs early on, lost their coverage.”
The administration reported that the health care centers were better equipped to handle the increased demand as a result of funding from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and an economic stimulus package.
Community health centers are typically found in low-income areas of the country where doctors and hospitals are scarce. They also serve as a key component of the health care reform law’s goal of expanding health coverage to an additional 30 million Americans who lack health insurance.
Last year, 1 out of every 4 Americans had no health insurance, putting a financial strain on the nation’s ...
... healthcare system. The Supreme Court is due to make a decision on the health care reform law as 50 million Americans without health insurance are left waiting to discover the fate of the bill.
However, the uninsured and millions more are looking for affordable health insurance today. First Preferred offers individual health insurance, family health insurance, preexisting conditions insurance plans, obese insurance and many other forms of coverage.
