The Mode Of Functioning Of Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are worn on the cornea and remain affixed to it. . The pressure of the eyelids also helps it to remain fixed at their place. The moment we blink, it allows the lenses to move from its place slightly slid over the cornea. When this happens, the tears in your eyes are able to clear any dust that has amassed in your eyes. This is the basic way of functioning of these lenses and helps you to rectify your vision.
Contact lenses are given by the doctors to the patients suffering from a number of eye-related diseases like astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia etc. The problem occurs as these patients have retina unable to focus the light correctly. If the retina is not capable in the way it should work or is facing with any other problem, what we get is indistinct or inappropriate vision. These lenses are made based on the disease you’re suffering from. A patient suffering from astigmatism will have his lenses made by the optometrist so that it accurately fits your eyes. What this does is the lenses will sit properly over your cornea and the ...
... light rays will converge at single point on the cornea.
The contact lenses of the people suffering from myopia or nearsightedness is different again. Their lenses are slightly slimmer around the centre and are broader near the rims. For the people who are the patients of farsightedness are advised to use lenses which are just the opposite of the former case. Wearing these lenses helps in the proper dispensation of light rays which in turn corrects the vision. Though the contact lenses were primarily designed to cure vision related problems, they’re used in solving other problems too.
