Jute is probably one of the oldest existing fabrics on the face of the earth. It is easily one of the strongest existing fabrics too that is used today in a very wide array of applications. Jute is also known as the ‘Golden Fabric’ by many people across the globe. Some say it is due to the golden color of raw jute processed for use. Jute farming, jute mills and jute product manufacturing has given employment to people and farmers in India since very olden days. The major jute producing states in India are West Bengal, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam. Bengal has been famous its jute producing capacity from even before the British era.

Jute can easily be claimed to be the forefather of many modern day fabric applications. Due to its reduced production than the olden days, jute is now being replaced by the synthetic derivatives. But still the fascination of jute products has only increased over the years. People of India think of it as a heritage set up by their forefathers and something that should be kept alive in some form or other. That is where the jute products come into picture. Before the formation ...
... of west Bengal jute production and usage was in its golden era. But after the formation of the Bangladesh jute mills across the country took a hit as most of the jute producing land went to the other side of the border. But with continuous efforts from the government and the people alike the jute farming was revived up to a good extent. Today India stands at the pinnacle of the jute farming and jute product manufacturing nations.

Even after so many years the usage of jute and its derived products has not gone down and has only been diversified. Jute is heavily used since long in double warp bags. The most basic example of those is the jute sacks that you get to see every time you visit a ration shop. Jute soil savers have been used by farmers to prevent soil erosion mainly in the hilly step wise farming system. Other than that there are several Indian companies that use jute for making stylish apparels and designer bags. Jute is also used in furnishing as sofa covers, covers for designer chairs and other purposes. Wall hangings, rugs, jute crafts comprise some other varied uses of jute. People nowadays use jute for many purpose and Indian companies are getting buying offers from as far as the US, China or Japan. The export business of jute products is growingly becoming very significant in the modern times.

Jute has much more longevity than many other of its synthetic replacements used today. The various commercial and government firms should consider in financing the jute production houses in the country. With proper care and increased jute farming and production people will get more occupation and one of the oldest heritages of the country will continue up to a long time. Jute is perfectly eco – friendly, so it is very beneficial for the environment. So with growing interests of people in jute and proper awareness around the world jute will regain the leader position that it deserves and already growing to become.
