Treating Cyclic Depression With Nlp
Are you worried that your case of wintertime blues has lasted longer, or has become more severe than normal? How do you know whether this is only a short-lived issue, or whether you may be facing a serious case of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)? Should you get medical help? Find out about the signs of SAD, how this disorder affects sufferers, and those treatments that are available.
SAD is not just feeling sad after summer has gone. SAD begins when the fall season begins to change to winter and daylight hours are shortened. The majority of people experience symptoms sometime during late summer or early fall. Furthermore, because of the severity and consequences of SAD and other types of depression, physicians need extensive evidence of the condition before they are willing to make a definite diagnosis. Even though signs can be very severe, physicians do not usually diagnose patients with SAD until after he or she has experienced strong evidence of the disorder for at least three consecutive winters.
People who are affected by this condition begin to experience feelings of sadness, decreased enthusiasm, and ...
... often sleep for long periods. They also report a craving for sugar or sweets. In addition, most people who experience SAD also have immune systems that do not function adequately. Often, they find themselves becoming ill much sooner than persons who do not suffer from SAD.
SAD can negatively decrease an individual's ability to function at work or educationally. This lack of motivation often makes getting out of bed or engaging in one's usual daily activities difficult. Sufferers find it difficult to participate in social encounters, or even at home. These persons frequently experience episodes of extreme anxiety and negativity. Occasionally, symptoms become severe and distressing enough that victims even consider suicide and have to be hospitalized for therapy.
Not surprisingly, women appear to experience SAD more frequently than men do. Additionally, this disorder seems to get better each year at springtime. In fact, in March or April, symptoms usually decrease or resolve altogether - until autumn returns again. This remains the case even in regions that are frequently cloudy or rainy throughout the entire year. In fact, almost twenty percent of the people treated for seasonal depression will at some point exhibit signs of bipolar disorder.
These people are usually depressed in the winter months, but have normal moods during the remainder of the year. At times, however, people describe instances of uncontrollable elation, which is also called mania. Like any other type of depression, SAD may become very serious or even result in disability if left untreated. Additionally, some people experience very low-grade levels of SAD; they may experience exhaustion, decreased vigor, and eating difficulties. These individuals, however, rarely endure instances of depressed moods or anxiety.
This type of depression is relatively rare in sunny areas such as Florida, southern California, and even Colorado. Others, who live in places with a large number of cloudy days, like Indiana, Illinois, or Washington are at higher risk for developing SAD. Citizens of countries including Denmark, Sweden, and Ireland also struggle with SAD.
Medical researchers have tried many alternative strategies to help people overcome this debilitating problem. They have tried exposing people to artificial light in an attempt to aid them to produce more serotonin and reduce depression symptoms. Researchers have also tried medicines such as antidepressants, and supplements, like melatonin, in an attempt to relieve these symptoms of depression. Many persons who have depression also visit counselors during those times when they are suffering most greatly.
All of these approaches have been used with variable degrees of success. All, however, are significantly more expensive and require more time than two more recent, innovative methods. Hypnotherapists have refined the art of providing assistance with learning both NLP and self-hypnosis techniques for depression. Through hypnosis, people learn to talk themselves out of a depressive period and resolve their symptoms. These useful treatments, hypnosis and NLP, have proven to have an astonishing amount of benefit in assisting clients to recover from, and avoid future problems with SAD.
Summary:Seasonal Affective Disorder is a kind of winter blues that reappears every year at the same season. Only individuals who face this disorder can determine whether they will continue fighting these symptoms alone, year after year, or to try to get assistance in resolving this condition once and for all. Hypnosis and NLP for depression are both helpful, innovative approaches that provide a quick relief from these feelings without consuming excessive amounts of money or energy.
