... 1703 - May 1770) was a French painter well-known for his classical themes, decorative allegories representing the arts or pastoral occupations, and intended as a kind of two-dimensional furniture. He was a promoter of Rococo style and probably the most famous decorative artist of the 18th century. Boucher was influenced by Francois Lemoyne, his father. Then, he went to work for the engraver Jean-Francois Cars.

In 1731, Francois Boucher was admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture as a historical painter. From this year his career took off. His most select works are: The Toilet of Venus (1751), The Breakfast (1739) and Marie-Louise O'Murphy (1752). There are other works in Oil Paintings such as Rinaldo and Armida, The Rest on the Flight to Egypt, Diana Resting after her Bath, Autumn, Triumph of Venus, etc.
