Asthma is a disease which causes inflammation of the airways. The prominent symptoms of asthma are wheezing, shortage of breath, chest tightness and coughing. The inflammation causes restriction in the air flow makes the patient ...
... gasp for breath.
Asthma can be triggered from a host of things. The prime factors that are known to aggravate asthma are sudden fluctuation in excitement, smoking tobacco, dust, animal dander and others. Irritants too can upsurge the chances of an asthma attack. Irritants are found in a whole lot of things that we use in our daily lives. These include floor cleaner, deodorants, incense stick, after shaves and other such things.
Below is the list of a few chemicals that an asthma patient should be aware of:
* Parabens – emollient which are found in large numbers in all cosmetic products. (Mascaras, eye shadows etc)
* UV filters – The sun screen lotions which we use may cause problems for asthmatic patients.
* Glycol Ethers and Ethanolamines – Found mainly in home cleaning products.
* Alkylphenols – This is found mostly in detergents.
* Triclosan – Hand sanitizers, anti bacterial soaps are a good source of this chemical.
* Cyclosiloxanes – found in shampoos and also in sun screen lotions.
* Phthalates – shower curtains and bottles made of plastic is a chief source of this chemical.
Those who are suffering from asthma should therefore always be cautious regarding the products that they use. This might take up some more time to choose the correct product but it will definitely ensure safety.
