If you were to walk through my grandparents residence, you would see a huge variety of antique wood furniture. Much of it is actually in very good shape although some of it shows its age.For as long as I can remember, this furniture has been around, and has weathered four children and nine grandchildren. It's stood up rather well, and that might be because it was very well made, and was meant to last. Though not all furniture this age looks as good, there are many things you can do to preserve it.

There are many people who are always looking for a great piece of antique wood furniture. They scour shops and flea markets to find something they love. I can see why this might be a lot of fun but I haven't really had the time to do it myself just yet. The ones you can find in flea markets are often the best deal you can get, if you know anything about antique wood furniture, you can spot a bargain. What might look like a beat up old table might be worth much more than the vendor is asking.

You have two choices if you find a beat up piece of antiquewoodfurniture. You can restore it yourself, or you can ...
... pay someone to do it for you. It's a lot of work to do it yourself although it could be a lot of fun. I needed to remove three layers of paint on a old table that I loved once. I was never able to get all the paint off even though I worked very hard.

The table is now in my dad's loft. Now I can see why more intricate pieces might need professional help.

You can take your old antique wood furniture to an antique expert. Many of them have staff that are qualified to restore old pieces. I know there are many in my small area, so I would imagine you can find them almost anywhere. You can bring a worn piece of antique wood furniture in and bring it home looking like it is new. These people can also restore the pieces, and if something is broken, they can create a new part that looks so good you won't know the difference. They can also restore modern furniture that looks worn down or is broken.
