Various Types: Definition and Uses

Pallet Racks- It is perhaps the most essential equipment used to store material in a warehouse. Nowadays, pallet racks come in various varieties, but the basic structure of all of these consists of horizontal rows with multiple levels. Examples of Pallet Racks are selective pallet racks, cantilever pallet rack, carton flow rack etc. Each one of them has its own utility for managing bulk quantity of materials. Conveyors- These devices are required for transferring goods from one location to another. Each conveyor is categorized according to the necessity such as live roller conveyors or powered belt conveyors are required for transportation whereas pop up wheel or narrow belt is used for Sortation.

Dock-Equipment- These are needed at the time of accessing trucks from shipping and receiving docks. Dock levelers, edge of dock levelers, dock boards, dock ramps, yard ramps, dock seals, dock shelters, vehicle restraints, dock lights, door track guards and wheel risers are few of its kinds.

Mezzanine- Mezzanines are the equipment through which storage space, either for palletized materials or for non palletized materials, can be increased to an optimum level. The best part is that there is no extra rent for installing the shelves using mezzanine. Hence, it's one of the cost-effective equipment which is mostly used in the material handling solutions.
