One of the best fibers available in use today is jute. The age-old fabric continues to be one of the best when some new day synthetic derivatives are catching the market. Known as the golden fiber of the world, it is indeed an asset, which is still available. In India, jute manufacture, jute farming, jute export and other related business and procedure have given employment to a huge number of people. The jute export business is a field where India has always a reputable name to stand for it. The export volume is far more than any other country.

Jute is today used in several different applications that one can think about. Jute has very interesting properties in its internal structure. Even though it is one of the oldest existing fabrics, still it is far more durable and stronger than many synthetic derivative used today. The high tensile strength and durability, accounts for its very diverse use in the industry. The use of jute has today not gone down from its golden days but only it has been much more diversified. In India, jute is mostly produced in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, Tripura, and Uttar ...
... Pradesh.

The uses of jute have many dimensions. ‘Jute bag’ is the most common usage that you will find today in the market. Jute bags in India are manufactured on large scale and exported all over the world. With added leather, embroidered accessories the bags are made fashionable yet ethnic at the same time. Jute beach bags, wallets, promotional bags, and several other forms of bags are available. Jute weaving requires great skills and the bags are from the best of the raw jute available.

Other than that, jute is heavily used in making carpets and rugs since olden times. Jute, due to its longevity is highly used in designing and manufacturing furniture. Chairs, sofas and sitting tools are covered with jute mats with delicate designs. Moreover, jute is highly used in twill sacking bags. These bags have been used for transport of food grains and other perishables over the years in India and many other countries.

Jute has another very important use, in making jute ground covers. They are actually used as nets to prevent soil erosion especially in the hilly areas, which are washed regularly by the rains. They stop the high flowing of the clay and soil during rain. Jute fibers being made from harvested raw materials, is completely perishable. Unlike its most replacements used today, jute is perfectly bio – degradable. That speaks for its increased importance in the modern society.

In spite of all these plus points there are several synthetic and poly derivatives produced today to replace the jute bags. The primary reason behind it is that jute farming is decreasing and the mills have gone down in the last few years. However, with proper support from industries and the government the farming and production of jute can be much revived. After all, with all its advantages, it deserves its proper place today rather than going towards the pages of history.
