I am not a Russophile, but I do enjoy check it out every few years or so. I like to observe its rich history and unique culture. I like to observe how this country is getting up from its knees from the mess of the turbulent 90s. One of the most inconvenient things about my previous trips was getting Russian train tickets. I have recently discovered a great new way to get tickets on Russian trains and want to share it with you.
One of the best ways to travel across Russia is via train. An intricate rail network connects hundreds of Russian cities allowing you to visit some of the most distant places places. Russian train travel is not just comfortable but also affordable. You can reach most of destinations with an overnight train and you can purchase Russian train tickets in the internet.
Until 2008, this was unimaginable. Before 2008, you could only buy Russian train tickets on a train station or at a travel agency, which is annoying and required a paper ticket to be delivered by mail. Luckily, this is no longer the case and you can now order Russian train tickets online, ...
... easily and safely using your credit card. I personally found this easy-to-use portal very handy. It allows you getting a train ticket on any Russian train ticket online.
Some years ago, I spent a few days in St Petersburg and then a couple of days in Novosibirks. That time I had to spend one hour wasting my time in a line on a train station. For my tickets back Novosibirks I used a help of tourist agency and had to pay fifty dollars on top of the ticket's price for paper ticket. When I returned to Russia this year I came across this website in the internet that allows you to purchase. That was such a good news. I actually made a reservation and I cannot emphasize how convenient it has been. I showed up at the train station with a print out, got my boarding pass and got on the train. No lines, no hassles, no extra fees. Brilliant.
I have traveled all over the world and one of the best vacations that I taken was a trip to Moscow and St Petersburg. Both of these great cities seem to have a very special soul - different from any other place. I have a lot for people who live in Moscow or St Petersburg as they have so much a stone's throw away.
Yet, I don't regret paying couple thousand dollars to see Russia. To me, being on a Russian train that carries you from Moscow to St Petersburg is so much more than going to the Dominican Republic for a vacation. In fact, my journey of a lifetime was this last summer when I and my wife traveled on a Russian train. I recommend going to Russia. It's like no other.
