Landfills, Cell Phones And Environmental Damage

Did you know that most cell phone users replace their phones about every 18 months? Have you ever wondered what happens to all those phones? Over a billion used cell phones are thrown away each year; most of them wind up in landfills worldwide. In the US alone 170 million – yes, million! – Used cell phones are discarded and replaced annually! Of those, an average of only about 10% are recycled or refurbished. That means that a full 90% of discarded phones end up helping pollute the earth in landfills!
What most people don’t realize is that old cell phones are full of toxic compounds that can contaminate both soils and water, causing environmental damage. Breaking down over time in landfills can cause these toxins to leach out. Toxins from some of even well-run landfills have managed to find their way out and into wells and aquifers as well as poison the surrounding land. With fewer landfills that are created, the better for the earth and all of us.
There is an old saying that says “You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.” Since most of us use cell phones and will have to replace ...
... them sooner or later, why not be smart about it? Check out our used cell phones for sale and do your part to keep earth a bit cleaner and reduce environmental damage.
When considering buying a used mobile phone, what’s not to like? You can get the coolest new features you want without having to plunk down so much of your hard-earned money. Here’s why: by law, cell phone companies can’t sell returned phones (such as from a 30-day trial) as ‘new.’ That means that many used phones are virtually new and there’s nothing wrong with them – the customer simply changed his or her mind!
All phones for sale are carefully checked for any damage, repaired if necessary and cleaned of previous data, reprogrammed as well as sanitized. Also, may of these used phones are classified as “unlocked mobile phone,” which is great if you like to have a real choice on which carrier to choose! It gets even better: while refurbished cell phones and used mobile phone are guaranteed, there’s no contract to have to sign. Don’t like a carrier’s service? No problem – just take your business elsewhere without having to shell out for termination fees.
So, now that you’re saving money and making earth a bit cleaner, what are you going to do with all that money saved by choosing a nifty refurbished 2nd hand phone?
