Bali is not called the island of a thousand temples for nothing. As the name suggests, tens of thousands of Hindu temples are spread sporadically all over the island. If visiting places of worship is your favourite thing to do on your vacation, you may want to try spending your holidays in Bali. You will be amazed by the different architecture of each temple because although many of them are similar in theme, they are wondrously diverse in interpretation. Of course, different temples are for different purposes. Some of the temples are now remnants of the past but many are still actively patronized.

One of the things that you may be able to experience on your holidays in Bali is the religious ceremonies conducted on different occasions. Offerings of flower petals, fruits and food are often given by patrons of these temples for different reasons and ...
... festivities. Therefore, it is often a good idea for you to do your own research on the type of ceremonies you wish to see as some of these ceremonies are only conducted at certain times of the year. The ceremonies also depend on the God who is worshipped in the temple. Different gods demand different offerings and ceremonies. So conducting your own research may save you the disappointment of missing out on the ceremony you wish to witness.

On your holidays in Indonesia, you may find that many temples date back to the beginning of time. Therefore it is only logical that many of these temples are often located in remote areas with no vehicular access. However, you may not have to worry about transportation if you choose a budget accommodation that is located within the main city. By choosing an affordable hotel that offers access to various transportation services, you may be able to reach these remote destinations at your convenience. Of course, these transportation services may take you up to the boundaries of the temple. Once you reach there, you may have no other option but to walk as these temples are sacred sites with no vehicles allowed.

Your holidays in Legian Bali may not be complete if you do not visit the Tanah Lot Temple. After a 45-minute car ride from Legian, you will be greeted by a stunning view of the temple that is located among rock formations offshore. Of course, you will have to reach the beach on foot but it will all be worth it once you set your eyes on the magnificent temple with the view of the sunset behind it. You can definitely feel the mysticism and exoticism of the entire surrounding as you go through the footpath to the raised cliff area to get a better view. You also have the option of drinking Es Kelapa Muda (chilled young coconut) while watching the sunset behind the temple. It will definitely be an experience you can’t forget.

In general, visiting places of worship on the island of Bali is a must-do. However, bear in mind that exploring temples and witnessing religious ceremonies can be tiring. So you may want to make sure that your accommodation of choice offers not just comfortable beds but also adequate facilities to give you the 5-star experience you want without spending more than you can afford. After all, you wouldn’t want to appear panda-eyed due to lack of sleep in your vacation photos, would you?
