Looking at Maslow's 'Hierarchy of Needs ' this is conclusive evidence that the further needs explained by him can't be attained with no employment, be it as an employee or being self-employed. Jobs are therefore at the core of man's existence, not to mention desire to achieve and be content as an individual. Without the actualization of the physiologic and safety levels, (Levels 1 & 2) there is to be no love/belonging, confidence and self-actualization levels as just the achievement of the one level will lead to the other. Individuals are born and then mostly spend the next 18-20 years of their day-to-day lives in the preparing of a job. It is comprehended that jobs are required to earn money to buy food items, housing, clothes, transportation and further schooling for many. To the majority of individuals around the world, jobs are the Alpha and the Omega of life and self-esteem. After the World-Wide financial meltdown and the continuing European economic crisis, jobs happen to be under unprecedented risk, with record breaking unemployment numbers reported around the world, but nowhere ...
... as bad as South Africa. Official studies indicate a population of 50,3 million people with some 26% of them being unemployed. Unofficially the lack of employment rate is approximated to exceed 30%, plus a large proportion of the estimated 5-7 million unofficial immigrants in the country being unemployed. With such track record one can comprehend the high emotions of those men and women without jobs. It's not only about not being able to buy and pay for even basic things; it is also about human self-esteem and self worth. The creation of jobs is a high concern with the South African government, but evidently there are no quick fixes to such problem. Rapid solutions applied to date have not really solved the principle issue, only the concern to some. In a commercial sense and legislatively taking jobs from the ones that had, and offering them to those that didn't, may seem fair on one hand, but is not the solution to the problem. It, contrarily, tend to lead to further problems in a country that is screaming for skills on the one hand but creates shifted joblessness on the other. Globalization works up against the interest of Africa, so also in the case of South Africa with trade restrictions, increased brand or name restriction and high government financial assistance allowed by European and USA economies to their own interest, while those capital rich economic climates tend to plunder the recourses of Africa and in the process inhibit inner growth.Jobs are what make the economy go around. Jobs pay for consumerism and exports, but generally lead to the happiness of man, making him a cheerful and contented citizen. The happier and more contented citizens South Africa can produce, the more affluent the country will be and the quicker the divide among South Africans will disappear. To that end it is in the interest of all South Africans to pool their recourses and skills to grow the economy and as a consequence create job opportunities. It is Government's task to make the path easier and not to add challenges to job distribution and the creation of jobs.
