Like political infighting in business and other organisations between workers and the like so often puts overuse on the achievement and advancement of companies, so it does in the case of government authorities and such like agencies. So much energy gets expended fighting the nation-wide politics of power that the real bread and butter troubles often keep on being mere utterances as opposed to active policies and actions, like jobs in South Africa. Jobs in South Africa is a critical issue to South African culture and the economy as well. Politics however seems to play its part in placing obstacles to job creation rather then actively pursuing it at all levels of contemporary society. With a human population exceeding 50 M people, and some 26-30% of them out of work, it must be seen as a catastrophe waiting to occur. Yes, you can find jobs in South Africa and there are extremely good jobs, the problem is that there is such intense level of competition to those jobs. Precipitating such action, however, so often is the concern of businesses being paid vastly overpriced salaries in comparison with workers that workers feel obligated to make irrational demands? We in South Africa seem to have lost sight of the value of jobs and compensation in society. So many of our people are totally poverty struck and without jobs, while so many of those blessed enough to have a job, either don't value the job and what it brings and yet other people see it as an overnight pass to personal wealth and prosperity, plundering the chance. This country is dependant on a free economy and is not a socialistic condition, but it does not imply that the land's sources are there to be removed. We certainly also do not want an autocratic state, but possibly Jacob Zuma should persuade his labour minister to pass laws that jobs in South Africa can pay no more than the salary of the President of the country. It appears ludicrous that Municipal City Managers can earn up to 3 times what the President of the country earns. In some instances they are actually "Dorp" managers and not even City administrators. Managing a pumpkin patch and managing an entire agricultural venture seem to be 2 things altogether. Jobs in South Africa are very important at all levels, but for some of these (incompetent) administrators to earn up to three hundred or more times the wages of their most lowly paid workers, is criminal.We have to stop playing lip service to job creation in this country and apply all of our assets to developing jobs in South Africa for her residents. We need to also be building a culture of being proud to be employed and protecting our jobs by being qualified and competitive. Jobs in South Africa are urgently essential for all, not only the well connected and so often the unskilled. No work equal no food, no roof, no dignity, and no National satisfaction.
