Tasting new food is part of the excitement of visiting places that you have never been to before. If a culinary adventure is what you’re looking for in your vacation you may already be screaming “Find me a cheap hotel in Ipoh!” This is because Ipoh is well known for her special delicacies that are quite difficult to find elsewhere. Once a flourishing mining town where many Chinese mine owners once settled, the local cuisine is also largely influenced by Chinese flavours and ingredients. However, this does not mean that the food there is limited for the Chinese only. Many of these dishes have gone through various adaptations and improvisations to suit the taste of the locals.

If you are thinking to yourself, “How do I find me a cheap hotel in Ipoh and be able to taste all the good food?” you may want to start by researching where all the good food ...
... is first. Generally, popular food stalls and outlets are located all over the town. So it may be a good idea for you to choose a hotel that is centrally located to enable you to have access to every single one of these famous food outlets. If you ask the locals, many popular food in town like the Ipoh ‘Hor Fun’ or the ‘Chee Cheong Fun’ are sold by street vendors and are not even the slightest bit expensive. But the taste and originality of these simple yet mouth-watering delicacies cannot be found elsewhere; even at fancy restaurants.

You know you’re in for a mouth-watering treat when your travel motto is “find me a cheap hotel in Malaysia so that I can eat!” With the variety of food available all over the country it does not really matter which part of the country you go to. The important thing is that you book a room at a budget accommodation instead of a high-end hotel. This is because expensive lodgings are rarely located near popular local food outlets especially where popular street vendors are, where you will truly get a taste of Malaysia. Of course, this does not mean that inexpensive hotels can only be found in dodgy alleys or dead-end streets. On the contrary, you can now find good cheap accommodations right in the city centre.

You can also be sure to find a variety of delicious food if you’re thinking “find me a cheap hotel in Kulim”. Malay, Chinese and Indian foods are widely available and many of them won’t even cause the slightest dent in your wallet. Whether you buy the arguably most famous Malay burger on the street where the MCA building is or a plate of char bee hoon at the side of the old cinema building, you know you can eat your heart out and yet not splurge at all. If you choose a place of stay that is inexpensive you will be able to save more money on your vacation. After all, the flight alone may have cost you quite a lot of money. Therefore, why not save on accommodation so that you can truly enjoy your holidays without worrying about your finances.

Regardless of the city or town that you choose to visit during your trip to Malaysia, you may not have to worry about food shortage at all. This is because the country itself is a food haven for many travellers and locals alike. It is advisable that you be slightly more adventurous and taste foods that are popular with the locals. They may taste slightly different than that of your home country but at least it will be an experience you will never forget.
